CQR stands for Continuing Qualifications Requirements. It is a process designed for radiologic technologists (R.T.s) who have time-limited certifications. The purpose of CQR is to help these professionals identify any gaps in their skills and knowledge and to provide a roadmap for acquiring the necessary updates or missing competencies. This ensures that they continue to meet or exceed today's entry-level standards in their discipline. The CQR process occurs every 10 years and involves three main steps:
- Completing a Professional Profile, which is like an online survey comparing your experience with others.
- Taking a Structured Self-Assessment (SSA) to identify knowledge gaps. This is not a pass/fail test but a tool for assessment.
- Completing any prescribed Continuing Education based on the SSA results to address those gaps.
CQR is required for radiologic technologists who earned credentials on or after January 1, 2011, and is aimed at maintaining high-quality patient care through ongoing professional development. The process benefits both technologists by helping them stay current in their field and patients by ensuring competent care.
