Bank Nifty expiry refers to the date on which futures and options contracts of Bank Nifty, a sectoral index comprising 12 stocks from the banking industry that trade on NSE, expire. The weekly expiry day for Bank Nifty futures and options contracts was revised from Thursday to Wednesday, effective from September 4, 2023. All weekly contracts expire on Wednesday of every week, excluding the expiry week of the monthly contract. If Wednesday is a trading holiday, then the expiry day is the previous trading day. However, there is no change in the expiry days for the monthly and quarterly contracts of Bank Nifty, which expire on the last Thursday of every month/quarter.
