In UFC, a "no contest" (abbreviated as "NC") is a technical term used to describe a fight that ends for reasons outside the fighters hands, without a winner or loser). It means that neither fighter can be declared the winner, and the fight is listed as a no contest on both fighters records. A no contest can happen due to reasons outside of at least one of the fighters control, such as an accidental illegal strike that results in an injury, an accidental injury to any one of the fighters, interference by the referee or non-participating member(s) of a fight, ring issues that make a fair fight impossible, or dishonest behavior of one or both fighters). If a fighters dishonest action or drug use is discovered, the result can also be overturned, and the fight can be declared a no contest. A no contest can also occur when a fighter sustains an injury in the middle of the fight due to an accidental foul, and the referee decides on the severity of the injury at the time. Blows from intentional illegal strikes that force a fighter to be unable to continue are generally not declared a no contest, but as a win and a loss by disqualification for the appropriate fighters).
