Stride gum, a sugar-free gum introduced in 2006 and known for its long-lasting flavor, was discontinued in the United States, Canada, and Europe around 2019-2024. After being acquired by Kraft Foods (now Mondelēz International) in 2010, the gum underwent a recipe and packaging change with the release of Stride 2.0 in 2011, but sales declined significantly after that. The brand struggled to maintain its market share, and despite some marketing efforts, sales continued to drop. By 2019, the gum was essentially taken off the shelves in Western markets as Mondelēz International decided to focus on other product categories. In 2023, Mondelēz sold most of its chewing gum brands to Perfetti Van Melle, but Stride was not part of this sale. The brand is still sold in China and Australia as of 2024, where it retains some popularity. In the U.S. and other Western countries, fans often resort to buying Stride gum online from overseas sellers, though those products may be old stock. The decline in consumer interest and sales, combined with the company's strategic shift away from gum, led to the disappearance of Stride gum from major markets. The company has not officially announced a return or comeback, and given the past sales performance and recent brand sales, a revival seems unlikely for now.
