Lady Gaga is an American singer, songwriter, and actress known for her image reinventions and versatility in the entertainment industry. She began performing as a teenager, singing at open mic nights and acting in school plays. In 2014, Gaga revealed that she had been raped by a male music producer when she was 19 years old. She said that the producer had threatened to burn her music if she did not take her clothes off, and that he had left her pregnant after the assault. Gaga said that she suffered a "total psychotic break" years later as a result of the trauma, and was in an "ultra state of paranoia". She was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) years later, after going to the hospital for chronic pain. Gaga has since spoken out about the lasting pain and trauma of being sexually assaulted as a teenager, and has been an advocate for the #MeToo movement.
In 2020, Gaga released her sixth studio album, Chromatica, which yielded the number-one single "Rain on Me". In 2023, she announced that she would be rejoining Tony Bennett for a duets album following their 2014 collection Cheek to Cheek.
