Evelyn Dutton is the late wife of John Dutton and the mother of Lee, Kayce, Jamie, and Beth. She only makes four appearances in Yellowstone, as she passed away in 1997 when her children were still young. Evelyn died on March 30, 1997, during a horseback riding accident while out riding with Kayce and Beth. Her horse got spooked and fell on her, resulting in her death. During that time, Evelyn looked at Beth and said, “She did this. Let her undo it.” While Beth managed to find and bring her father to the scene, they were too late. Evelyn Dutton took her last breath when John finally reached her. Evelyn was known for being a tough mother, especially to Beth, and her death took a toll on the family, being a traumatic experience for John and their children.
