- Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane after being betrayed by Judas with a kiss late at night or early morning
- He was taken before the Jewish authorities, including Annas and Caiaphas, where he faced a series of trials. The Sanhedrin accused him of blasphemy after Jesus affirmed he was the Son of God, leading to their condemnation of him to death
- Jesus was then brought before the Roman governor Pontius Pilate and also sent to Herod, but ultimately Pilate sentenced him to be crucified to satisfy the crowd, despite finding no guilt in him
- Early in the morning, Jesus was mocked, beaten, and crowned with thorns by Roman soldiers
- Around 9 a.m., Jesus was crucified at Golgotha. Soldiers divided his garments and mocked him during the crucifixion
- Between 9 a.m. and noon, Jesus spoke from the cross, including promising paradise to a repentant thief and entrusting his mother Mary to the disciple John
- From noon to 3 p.m., darkness covered the land, the temple curtain was torn, and Jesus expressed his thirst and agony
- At about 3 p.m., Jesus died, uttering words like "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" and "It is finished," after which he gave up his spirit
- His death is understood as the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of humanity, fulfilling prophecy and offering redemption
