At the end of Sinners , after a brutal battle at the juke joint, most characters who were bitten and turned into vampires die, including Pearline and Annie, who is killed by Smoke before fully turning. Delta Slim sacrifices himself to allow others to escape. Smoke and Sammie are the last humans standing. Smoke fights and kills the lead vampire Remmick with the help of Sammie, who uses his guitar as a weapon. As the sun rises, the remaining vampires are incinerated. However, Smoke then faces a group of Ku Klux Klan members, kills them all but is fatally wounded in the process. He dies after seeing a vision of Annie and their late daughter. Sammie survives and returns to his father's church but refuses to renounce music, choosing instead to pursue his passion
. In the post-credits scene, set 60 years later, an older Sammie (played by Buddy Guy) is shown running a Chicago blues bar. He is visited by Stack and Mary, who have remained ageless vampires. Stack reveals that Smoke spared him on the condition that he would let Sammie live in peace. They offer Sammie immortality, which he declines. Sammie reflects on the night of the battle as the greatest day of his life, a moment when he truly felt free
. Thus, the film ends on a bittersweet note: the fight against evil and racism took a heavy toll, but Sammie lives on, carrying forward the legacy of music and freedom. The post-credits scene hints at possible future stories in this universe.
