According to multiple sources, a woman armed with a knife stabbed three people, including a police lieutenant, at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. The incident occurred in the domestic terminal and has since been cleared. The woman was outside of security, near the west crossover, and began walking to the south terminal. Before officers came across her, she had already stabbed a man. By the south terminal, officers tried to convince her to drop the knife and were working to restrict her movement and clear travelers from the area. During this encounter, she stabbed a woman and then an APD lieutenant in the leg as he tried to take her into custody. Ultimately, another officer tackled her to the ground and they used pepper spray and tasers to take her into custody. All victims were conscious and have been taken to the hospital. The suspect has been taken into custody, and an investigation is underway. The security checkpoint was not closed due to the incident, and there was minimal impact on airport operations.
