According to multiple sources, a woman stabbed three people, including a police officer, at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on October 11, 2023. The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. in the domestic terminal and was cleared by 5:30 p.m. . The woman was armed with a knife and was outside of security near the west crossover before officers found her. She had already stabbed a man in a taxi at the north terminal before officers came across her. By the south terminal, officers tried to convince her to drop the knife and were working to restrict her movement and clear travelers from the area. During this encounter, she stabbed a woman and then an APD lieutenant in the leg as he tried to take her into custody. Ultimately, another officer tackled her to the ground and they used pepper spray and tasers to take her into custody. All three victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay. The suspect has been taken to the airport precinct, and an investigation is underway. The security checkpoint was never closed and is still screening travelers. Impacts to operations were minimal, and there is no threat to public safety.
