Lost Mode on an iPhone is a security feature designed to protect your personal information and help you locate your lost device. When you enable Lost Mode via the Find My app or iCloud.com, several things happen:
- The iPhone is locked remotely, preventing anyone from accessing your data without your passcode.
- You can display a custom message on the lock screen, such as a contact phone number or instructions for returning the phone.
- Location Services are turned on automatically, allowing you to track the device’s location on a map, even if location was previously disabled.
- The device will not show notifications, alerts, or play sounds for messages or alarms, but it can still receive phone calls and FaceTime calls.
- The iPhone is put into Low Power Mode to conserve battery life while you track it.
- Apple Pay and other payment services, including credit/debit cards, student IDs, and transit cards stored in Wallet, are suspended or disabled to prevent unauthorized purchases.
- If the device is offline when Lost Mode is activated, you will receive an email notification once it comes online and its location is updated.
Additionally, Lost Mode works alongside Activation Lock, which requires your Apple ID and password to unlock the phone, providing a strong layer of security against unauthorized use
