To obtain a REAL ID in Pennsylvania, you must provide the following documents: 1. Proof of Identity and Lawful Status (choose one):
- U.S. birth certificate with raised seal (certified copy issued by a government agency)
- Valid, unexpired U.S. passport or passport card
- Certificate of U.S. Citizenship (Form N-560 or N-561)
- Consular Report of Birth Abroad (Form FS-240, DS-1350, or FS-545)
- Certificate of Naturalization (Form N-550 or N-570)
- Unexpired Employment Authorization Card (Form I-766 or I-688B)
- Valid, unexpired Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) (Form I-551)
- Unexpired foreign passport with valid U.S. visa and I-94 form showing permanent residence
2. Proof of Social Security Number (must show full 9 digits and current legal name):
- Social Security card
- W-2 form
- SSA-1099 form
- Non-SSA-1099 form
- Pay stub
3. Two Proofs of Pennsylvania Residency:
Examples include:
- Current, unexpired PA driver’s license or photo ID card
- PA vehicle registration card
- Auto insurance card
- Utility bill (cellphone, cable, electric, gas) with your name and address
- Post-marked mail/package labels
- W-2 form or pay stub
- Lease agreements or mortgage documents
4. Proof of Legal Name Change (if applicable):
- Certified marriage certificate
- Court order approving name change
- Amended birth certificate showing name change
(Note: If your passport reflects your current name, no additional proof of name change is needed.)
You must present original or certified copies of these documents. Even if you already have a PA driver’s license or ID, you must provide these documents to get a REAL ID
. The REAL ID is required starting May 7, 2025, to board domestic flights, enter federal buildings, or access military bases
