There are five oceans on Earth. These oceans are large bodies of salt water covering about two thirds of the Earth's surface. The five oceans are:

  1. Pacific Ocean – The largest ocean, covering about a third of the Earth. It stretches from Asia and Oceania to North and South America.
  2. Atlantic Ocean – The second largest, covering about a quarter of the Earth, between the Americas and Europe/Africa.
  3. Indian Ocean – The third largest, located between Africa, Asia, and Oceania.
  4. Arctic Ocean – The smallest and shallowest, located around the North Pole.
  5. Southern Ocean – The newest officially recognized ocean, surrounding Antarctica and extending northward to the coasts of South America, Africa, and Australia.

All five oceans together cover over 70% of the Earth's surface and contain about 97% of Earth's water. They play crucial roles in regulating the climate, supporting marine life, and providing oxygen and food resources.
