Ameba is a single-celled organism that can cause various diseases in humans, including amebiasis. The symptoms of amebiasis can vary depending on the severity of the infection. Here are the first signs of amebiasis:

Mild form: The mild form of amebiasis includes nausea, diarrhea, weight loss, stomach tenderness, and occasional fever. These symptoms may develop a few days to a few months after exposure but usually within two to four weeks.

Severe form: In rare cases, the parasite can spread beyond the intestines and cause a more serious infection, such as a liver abscess (a collection of pus). Symptoms of severe amebiasis include bloody diarrhea, stomach pains, cramping, nausea, loss of appetite, and fever.
Its important to note that not everyone who has an amebiasis infection gets sick, and some people may not have any symptoms, especially when theyre first infected. If you experience gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea (especially bloody diarrhea), you should let your healthcare provider know, especially if you or someone you live with recently visited an area with poor sanitation.
