The Abraham Accords are a series of bilateral agreements on Arab-Israeli normalization signed between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain on September 15, 2020. The agreements were signed at the White House, and both the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain recognized Israels sovereignty, enabling the establishment of full diplomatic relations. The name of the Abraham Accords is rooted in the common belief of the Abrahamic religions, particularly Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, regarding the role of Abraham as a spiritual patriarch. The accords are based on mutual understanding, coexistence, respect for human dignity and freedom, including religious freedom, and encourage efforts to promote interfaith and intercultural dialogue to advance a culture of peace among the three Abrahamic religions and all humanity. The Abraham Accords have led to new forms of cooperation in the Middle East and beyond, including in areas such as energy, food and water security, health, and other issues. The Accords could create 4 million new jobs and $1 trillion in new economic activity in the coming decade and in the near term help the region recover from the global pandemic. The Abraham Accords Peace Institute is an international, non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the implementation and expansion of the historic peace agreements known as the Abraham Accords.
