The commandments of God are found in the Bible and are considered to be the key to living in a way that pleases the Lord. While most people think of the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20, every command in Scripture is from God. The Ten Commandments are as follows:
- You shall have no other gods before Me.
- You shall not make unto thee any graven images.
- You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
- Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
- Honor your father and your mother.
- You shall not murder.
- You shall not commit adultery.
- You shall not steal.
- You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
- You shall not covet.
These commandments are hugely important for a number of reasons. They are the key to living in a way that glorifies the Lord, and they help us understand what is pleasing to God and what is not. If we want to live in a way that pleases God, we must seek to understand and obey His commands in Scripture.
