In Starfield, to move objects, the general method is as follows:
- On PC, hold down the E key while looking at an object to pick it up. You only need to hold the key to pick it up; after that, you can release E and move the object around. Press E again to drop the object.
- On Xbox controllers, hold down the A button to pick up and move objects, then release it to maneuver the item. Press A again to drop the object.
To rotate an object while holding it:
- On PC, use the left mouse button (LMB) and right mouse button (RMB) to rotate the object on different axes. You can change the rotation axis by pressing Shift.
- On Xbox, use the left trigger (LT) and right trigger (RT) to rotate, and press the left joystick to switch rotation axes.
You can also throw objects: press R on PC or X on Xbox while holding an item to throw it. This way, you can move, rotate, place, or even throw objects in the game, both for decoration or other purposes. This works for most movable objects that can be picked up and manipulated this way.
