Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, is located in Tanzania near the border with Kenya in East Africa. It stands about 200 miles (approximately 320 km) south of the Equator and is part of the Kilimanjaro National Park. Kilimanjaro's highest point, Uhuru Peak on the Kibo cone, reaches an elevation of 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. The mountain is situated in northeastern Tanzania and is close to the towns of Moshi and Arusha, with the nearest major airport being Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
