To use the Adamantine Forge in Baldur's Gate 3, follow these steps:
- Find and Prepare the Forge
The Adamantine Forge is located in Grymforge in the Underdark. You first need to clear rubble blocking access and defeat enemies guarding the area. Collect Mithral Ore nearby, which is required for forging
- Insert a Mould
Open the Mould Chamber on the forge and place a weapon or armor mould from your inventory (e.g., Scimitar, Shield, Mace, Longsword, Splint, Scale Mail moulds). The mould is not consumed and can be swapped out using the eject lever next to the chamber
- Add Mithral Ore
Insert Mithral Ore into the Crucible on the forge. This ore is consumed during the forging process and you have a limited amount, so choose your items carefully
- Lower the Forge and Add Lava
Pull the Forge Lever to lower the forge to the lower level. Then pull the Lava Valve to surround the forge with lava. Avoid standing in lava as it causes heavy damage. Position your characters safely on the raised platforms around the forge
- Activate the Hammer
Pull the Forge Lever again to activate the giant hammer that forges the item in the mould chamber. After forging, use the button next to the lever to raise the forge back to the upper level
- Collect Your Forged Item
Once the hammer hits, the forged weapon or armor will appear in the mould chamber. You can then remove the mould and repeat the process with a new mould and Mithral Ore if you have more ore available
- Defeat the Forge Protector (Grym)
When you pull the Lava Valve for the first time, a powerful Construct named Grym will appear as the forge protector. Grym is resistant to almost all damage except bludgeoning and only takes damage when superheated by lava. The best strategy is to bait Grym onto the forge’s hammer and activate it to defeat him quickly
Additional Tips:
- Moulds and Mithral Ore are scattered around Grymforge, so explore thoroughly to collect them.
- Be cautious of bugs such as the forge getting stuck with lava or Grym clipping into the anvil, which may require saving and reloading the game
- Choose your forged items wisely due to limited Mithral Ore availability
This process allows you to craft powerful weapons and armor with unique properties using the Adamantine Forge in Baldur's Gate 3
