To type the degree symbol (°) on a keyboard, the method depends on the operating system and keyboard type:
- On Windows (with a numeric keypad): Hold the "Alt" key and type "0176" on the numeric keypad, then release "Alt." This inserts the degree symbol where the cursor is.
- On a Mac: Press "Shift" + "Option" + "8" keys together to type the degree symbol.
- On Windows 10 or later: Press the Windows key + period (.) to open the emoji menu, then navigate to the omega (Ω) symbol section and find the degree symbol to insert it.
- On Chromebook/Linux: Press "Control" + "Shift" + "U," then type "00B0" (or "B0" for Linux), and press Enter or Space to insert the degree symbol.
If using Microsoft Word on Windows, there is also an option under Insert > Symbol to select and insert the degree symbol.
These methods cover most common platforms and applications for typing the degree symbol using a keyboard.
