To take a screenshot on a MacBook, use these keyboard shortcuts:
- To capture the entire screen: Press Shift + Command (⌘) + 3. The screenshot will be saved on your desktop.
- To capture a selected portion of the screen: Press Shift + Command (⌘) + 4, then drag the crosshair to select the area. Release to capture. The image is saved on your desktop.
- To capture a specific window: Press Shift + Command (⌘) + 4, then press Spacebar. The cursor changes to a camera icon. Click the window to capture it.
- For more options, press Shift + Command (⌘) + 5. This opens the Screenshot app with controls to capture the entire screen, a window, a selected portion, or even record video.
Screenshots typically appear as files on the desktop with a timestamp in the filename. Additionally, a thumbnail preview appears in the bottom-right corner after capture, allowing quick edits.
