To save Vanra in Baldur's Gate 3, follow these steps:
- Start the quest by speaking to Lora at the Basilisk Gate Barracks. She will tell you her daughter Vanra is missing and last seen at the Blushing Mermaid tavern.
- Investigate the Blushing Mermaid tavern. You will eventually find Auntie Ethel, who has kidnapped Vanra.
- Prepare Hag's Bane by crafting it from a recipe obtained in a related quest (involving the Hag Survivors). Hag's Bane is needed to make Ethel release Vanra.
- Enter the cellar of the Blushing Mermaid, where Ethel is hiding. Destroy the three Pearlspore Bells in the basement to prevent Ethel from resurrecting.
- During the fight with Ethel, throw Hag's Bane at her to force her to vomit Vanra up, thus saving her without harm.
- Alternatively, if you do not have Hag's Bane, you can non-lethally knock out Ethel and then cut Vanra out of her stomach.
- After Vanra is saved, return her to her mother Lora for the quest completion and receive rewards.
Important tips:
- If you kill Ethel without using Hag's Bane or non-lethal means, Vanra dies.
- Destroy the Pearlspore Bells quickly in the fight to prevent Ethel's resurrection.
- The real Captain Grisly, held captive in the cellar, can be saved by avoiding or knocking her out during the fight.
This quest takes place in Act 3 and is tied to prior quests for best success. Rewards include the Amulet of Windrider and other items.
