- Raise the Blinds: Pull the drawstrings or lift the bottom bar to raise the blinds fully. This clears the slats or fabric and makes the brackets easier to access
- Remove Valance or Decorative Trim: If your blinds have a valance (decorative cover) at the top, remove it by unclipping or gently prying it off to expose the mounting brackets
- Locate the Brackets: Identify the brackets holding the headrail in place, usually at each end of the blinds and sometimes in the middle. Some brackets have arms or clips holding the blinds, while others may be spring-loaded
- Release the Brackets:
- For brackets with arms, lift or slide the arms out of the way.
- For spring-loaded brackets, use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry the spring-loaded tab outward or push the headrail toward the window to depress the springs
- Remove the Blinds: With the brackets released, gently pull the headrail toward you while rolling or tilting it downward to free the blinds from the brackets. Be careful to avoid harsh motions to prevent damage or dropping the blinds
- Remove the Brackets (Optional): If you want to remove the brackets from the window frame, use a Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew them
