To put a phone in safe mode on most Android devices, follow these steps:
- Press and hold the Power button until the power options appear.
- Tap and hold the "Power Off" icon until a "Safe mode" option appears.
- Tap "Safe mode." The phone will restart in safe mode, and you will see "Safe mode" displayed on the screen, usually at the bottom left.
Alternatively, if the device is off:
- Power it on.
- When the logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down button until the device boots fully into safe mode.
In safe mode, only the essential system apps run, and third-party apps are disabled temporarily. This helps diagnose and fix issues caused by apps. To exit safe mode, simply restart the phone normally. These instructions generally work for most Android phones including Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, and others.
