To print screen (take a screenshot) on a Windows PC, you have several options depending on what you want to capture: 1. Capture the entire screen:
- Press the Print Screen (PrtScn) key. This copies the entire screen to the clipboard. You can then paste it into an image editor like Paint using Ctrl + V and save or print it
- Press Windows logo key + PrtScn to capture the entire screen and automatically save the screenshot as a file in the Pictures > Screenshots folder
2. Capture the active window:
- Press Alt + PrtScn to capture only the currently active window. This copies it to the clipboard, which you can paste into an image editor to save or print
3. Capture a selected area:
- Press Windows logo key + Shift + S to open the Snipping Tool overlay, allowing you to select a rectangular area, window, or freeform shape to capture. The screenshot is copied to the clipboard for editing or saving
4. Use the Snipping Tool app:
- Open the Snipping Tool from the Start menu.

5. On laptops without a dedicated PrtScn key:

Printing the screenshot:
