In Paris, to pay for a bus ride, there are several options:
- You can pay €2.50 in cash directly to the bus driver and receive a paper ticket. Note that the driver usually prefers smaller bills and may not accept large ones.
- Single ride tickets called "t+" tickets can be bought at metro or RER stations, from ticket vending machines or counters. These must be validated on the bus when boarding.
- You can use a Navigo Easy card (a rechargeable plastic card) which can be topped up with single or multiple tickets.
- Another option is to buy a ticket by sending an SMS text message to the number 93100 with the text "bus" plus the bus line number, and the fare is charged to your phone bill.
- Tickets and passes can also be bought on the RATP app, Bonjour RATP.
- Credit card payments on the bus for tickets are generally not accepted at the moment but may be possible on special airport buses.
You must validate any ticket or pass upon boarding the bus. The tickets allow transfers within 90 minutes to other bus or tram lines but are not valid for round trips on the same line or getting off and back on the same bus line.
