To make paper claws, follow these step-by-step instructions based on origami folding techniques:
- Prepare the Paper
Use a standard sheet of printer paper (8.5 x 11 inches). You will need one sheet per claw, so 10 sheets for a full set covering both hands
- Initial Folds
- Fold the top right corner of the paper down so the top edge aligns with the left edge, creating a triangle fold
* Fold the top left corner down to the opposite side to form a point at the top middle
- Fold Bottom Corners
- Fold the bottom left corner up so its edge lines up with the horizontal edge of the previous fold
* Repeat for the bottom right corner, folding it up to align with the folded paper
- Form the Triangle Shape
- Fold the bottom part of the paper up to shape the paper into a triangle
* Fold the paper in half from left to right along the center crease
- Create the Claw Shape
- Unfold the last fold so you have the triangle again
* Fold the left edge in to align with the center crease, then fold the paper over to the right along the same crease, rolling it over itself twice to form a tight shape
* Flip the paper so the long pointed end faces you
- Lock the Claw
- Open the top fold to reveal a pocket on one side.
- Tuck the top left point into this pocket and press firmly to secure the claw shape
- Wear the Claw
- Insert your finger into the pocket at the base of the claw. It should fit snugly and stay in place
Repeat these steps for each sheet of paper to make claws for all your fingers. You can make 5 or 10 claws depending on how many fingers you want to cover
. These paper claws can be sharp, so handle with care to avoid scratching yourself or others
. This origami project is simple, fun, and requires only paper and about 10 minutes to complete a full set
