To make mud in Minecraft, follow these steps:
- Craft a Glass Bottle : Use 3 glass blocks in a crafting table, placing one glass in the left middle slot, one in the right middle slot, and one in the center bottom slot to create a glass bottle.
- Fill the Bottle with Water : Right-click on a water source block while holding the glass bottle to fill it with water.
- Find Dirt : Place a block of dirt, coarse dirt, or rooted dirt somewhere in the world.
- Use the Water Bottle on Dirt : Right-click the dirt block with the water bottle in hand. This will transform the dirt block into a mud block.
- Harvest the Mud : You can mine the mud block with your hands or a shovel to collect it.
This process can be repeated to make as much mud as you want. Additionally, dispensers can automate this by shooting water bottles onto dirt blocks
. Additional Notes:
- Mud can be combined with wheat to craft packed mud, which in turn can be crafted into mud bricks for building purposes
- Mud blocks naturally generate in mangrove swamp biomes and some rare structures, but making mud with water bottles is often easier unless you find these biomes
This method works in both Java and Bedrock editions of Minecraft.
