To make an End Portal in Minecraft, follow these steps:
Materials Needed
- 12 End Portal Frames (cannot be crafted, only found in Creative mode or in strongholds)
- 12 Eyes of Ender (crafted by combining Ender Pearls and Blaze Powder)
How to Build the End Portal (Creative Mode)
- Prepare the Frame:
- Dig a 3x3 square hole or mark a 3x3 area on the ground.
- Stand inside the 3x3 area facing outward.
- Place 12 End Portal Frames around the edges of the 3x3 square in a ring, ensuring the green tabs on the frames face inward toward the center of the portal. The orientation is crucial for the portal to activate properly
- Place the Eyes of Ender:
- After placing all 12 frames correctly, step out of the portal area.
- Insert one Eye of Ender into each End Portal Frame by right-clicking or tapping on them.
- When the 12th Eye of Ender is placed, the portal will activate with a black, starry portal surface in the center
- Activate and Use the Portal:
- Once activated, jump into the portal to be transported to The End dimension where you can fight the Ender Dragon.
Important Notes
- The End Portal Frames must be placed with the correct orientation; all frames must face inward.
- If blocks are placed inside the portal after activation, they will be deleted.
- In Survival mode, you cannot craft the frames; you must find a stronghold and repair the existing End Portal by adding missing Eyes of Ender to the frames
- Breaking End Portal Frames after activation can deactivate the portal (behavior varies slightly between Java and Bedrock editions)
This method works for both Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions
