To make an End Portal in Minecraft, follow these steps:
Materials Needed
- 12 End Portal Frames
- 12 Eyes of Ender
Steps to Build the End Portal (Creative Mode)
- Prepare the Area : Dig a 3x3 square hole or clear a 3x3 area on the ground.
- Place the End Portal Frames : Stand inside the 3x3 square and face outward. Place the 12 End Portal Frames around the edge of the 3x3 square in a ring. It's crucial that the frames are oriented correctly — the side with the green tabs or "extra pixels" on the frame must face inward toward the center of the portal. The correct orientation ensures the portal will activate
- Insert the Eyes of Ender : After placing all 12 frames correctly, step outside the ring and place one Eye of Ender into each End Portal Frame block. When you place the last Eye of Ender, the portal will activate with a dark, starry portal surface appearing in the center
- Enter the Portal : Jump into the activated portal to be transported to The End, where you can face the Ender Dragon.
Important Notes
- The End Portal Frames cannot be crafted in Survival mode; they are only available in Creative mode or found in strongholds.
- In Survival mode, you find a pre-existing End Portal in strongholds and activate it by filling missing frames with Eyes of Ender.
- Make sure the frames are all facing inward correctly; otherwise, the portal will not activate even if all Eyes of Ender are placed
- Any blocks placed inside the portal area after activation will be deleted
This method works for both Java and Bedrock editions of Minecraft
