To insert a section break in Microsoft Word, follow these steps:
- Place your cursor where you want the new section to begin in your document.
- Go to the Layout tab on the ribbon at the top of Word.
- Click on Breaks to open the dropdown menu.
- Under the Section Breaks section, choose the type of section break you need:
- Next Page : Starts the new section on the next page.
- Continuous : Starts the new section on the same page (useful for changing formatting like columns without a page break).
- Even Page : Starts the new section on the next even-numbered page.
- Odd Page : Starts the new section on the next odd-numbered page.
This will insert a section break, allowing you to apply different formatting (such as headers, footers, columns, or page orientation) to each section independently
. Note: Section breaks cannot be inserted in Word for the web; you need the desktop application to add them
