To French braid, create a basic braid at the top of the head and gradually incorporate more hair into the strands as you continue braiding down the head
. Here's how to French braid:
- Gather three small, equal sections of hair where you want to begin the braid
- Cross the right section over the middle section, making the right section the new middle piece
. Then, cross the left section over the new middle piece, making the left section the new middle piece
- Gather a small piece of hair from the left side and add it to the left section in your hand
. Cross that combined section over the middle strand
- Repeat on the right side, gathering a small section of hair and adding it to the right piece before crossing it over the middle strand
- Continue braiding, repeating steps 3 and 4, until you reach the nape of the neck
. At this point, you can secure the braid with a rubber band to complete the style or continue with a regular three-strand braid down the remaining length of the hair before securing it
