To create slow motion in CapCut, follow these steps:
- Import your video clip into the timeline.
- Select the clip and go to the Speed option—usually found at the top or bottom toolbar.
- In the Speed menu, drag the speed slider to the left to reduce the speed and slow down the video.
- To make the slow motion smooth, enable the "Smooth Slow Mo" option where you can choose between "Frame Blending" and "Optical Flow" (Optical Flow provides higher quality but takes longer to process).
- If you want slow motion only for specific parts, split the video and apply speed adjustment to those segments.
- After editing, export your video.
On the CapCut mobile app, the process is similar: tap on the clip, go to Speed
Normal, drag to slow down, then enable the Smooth option and choose a quality mode. This method adds dramatic and cinematic effects by slowing down playback while maintaining smoothness through frame interpolation options.
