To clear the cache in Safari, you use Safari’s settings to remove website data or history. The exact steps differ slightly on Mac versus iPhone/iPad.
On Mac (Safari)
- Open Safari, then in the top menu bar click Safari → Settings (or Preferences).
- Go to the Privacy tab and click “Manage Website Data…”, then choose “Remove All” (or select specific sites) and confirm. This clears cached files, cookies, and other stored data.
On Mac (cache only)
- In Safari, go to Safari → Settings → Advanced and enable “Show features for web developers” (or similar wording).
- A “Develop” menu appears in the top bar; click Develop → “Empty Caches” to clear just the cache without wiping all cookies/history. You can also use the shortcut Command + Option + E.
On iPhone or iPad (Safari)
- Open the Settings app, scroll down and tap Safari.
- Tap “Clear History and Website Data” and confirm; this removes cache, cookies, and browsing history for Safari on that device.
