To clean a K&N air filter properly, follow these expert steps based on K&N's official instructions:
For K&N Oiled Cotton High-Flow Air Filters

Remove the Filter
Take the filter out of its housing and gently tap it to remove loose dirt and debris. -
Apply K &N Power Kleen Cleaner
Liberally spray K&N Power Kleen filter cleaner on both sides of the filter. Let it soak for 10 minutes but do not let the cleaner dry on the filter. -
Rinse with Low-Pressure Water
Rinse the filter with cool, low-pressure water from the clean side out to flush dirt away. Repeat spraying and rinsing if necessary until water runs clear. -
Dry Naturally
Shake off excess water and allow the filter to air dry completely. Do not use heat or compressed air to speed drying. -
Reapply K &N Filter Oil
Once dry, apply K&N air filter oil evenly along the crown of each pleat using either the squeeze bottle or aerosol spray. Let the oil wick in for about 20 minutes, then touch up any light areas to ensure uniform coverage. Avoid over- oiling. -
Reinstall the Filter
Place the filter back into the airbox or intake assembly following original installation instructions.

- Use only K&N cleaning and oil products to maintain warranty and filter integrity.
- For other K&N filter types (DryFlow, Heavy Duty Hybrid, Cabin Air, etc.), the cleaning process is similar but may not require oiling.
