To claim your Provident Fund (PF) amount, you can follow these steps to withdraw it online through the EPFO portal:

Log in to the EPFO Member Portal
Visit the EPFO Unified Member Portal and log in using your Universal Account Number (UAN) and password. If your UAN is not activated, activate it first by following the verification process. -
Go to the Claim Section
Click on the ‘Online Services’ tab and select ‘Claim (Form-31, 19 & 10C)’ from the dropdown menu. -
Verify Bank Details
Enter your bank account number registered with EPF and verify it. Ensure your bank account name matches the EPF records to avoid claim rejection. -
Sign the Undertaking
Click ‘Yes’ to digitally sign the certificate of undertaking. -
Select the Type of Withdrawal
Choose the type of claim you want to apply for under ‘I Want To Apply For’:- Full EPF settlement (Form 19)
- Pension withdrawal (Form 10C)
- Partial withdrawal or advance (Form 31)

Fill the Withdrawal Form
For partial withdrawal or advance, select ‘PF Advance (Form 31)’, specify the purpose, amount, and your address. You may need to upload scanned documents supporting your claim. -
Submit the Application
Submit the claim form online. You will receive a Claim Reference Number (CRN) to track your application status. -
Processing and Payment
EPFO processes your claim, usually within 5-15 business days. Upon approval, the PF amount is credited directly to your registered bank account, and you receive an SMS notification.
Additional Important Points:
- Your Aadhaar, PAN, and bank details must be linked and verified in the EPFO database for smooth processing.
- EPF withdrawal is tax-free if you have contributed continuously for five years. Withdrawals before five years may attract TDS if the amount exceeds Rs. 50,000.
- You can also withdraw your full PF amount after 2 months of resignation if you are unemployed
If you prefer offline withdrawal, you can download the relevant claim forms from the EPFO website, fill them, and submit them along with required documents at your regional EPF office
