To change a Pokémon's Tera Type in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, follow these steps:
- Collect 50 Tera Shards of the desired type.
These shards are obtained by defeating Pokémon in Tera Raids or sometimes found in the wild. You need 50 shards of the specific Tera Type you want your Pokémon to change to
- Defeat the Normal-type Gym Leader Larry in Medali.
This is required to unlock the ability to change Tera Types. After beating Larry, you gain access to the Treasure Eatery in Medali, where the chef will help you change your Pokémon's Tera Type
- Go to the Treasure Eatery in Medali and talk to the chef.
The chef, located at the back of the restaurant, will offer to change your Pokémon's Tera Type in exchange for 50 Tera Shards of the chosen type. You can select any Pokémon in your party or box to change its Tera Type
- Select the desired Tera Type and the Pokémon to change.
Confirm your choice, and the chef will change your Pokémon's Tera Type accordingly
Additional notes:
- The first time you talk to the chef after defeating Larry, he will give you 50 Normal Tera Shards for free, allowing you to try changing a Tera Type immediately
- There is also a special Stellar Tera Type that can be unlocked and changed to using Stellar Tera Shards, which have unique properties
This process allows you to customize your Pokémon's Tera Type to better suit your battle strategy or preferences
