To change your background in Google Meet, follow these steps: Before or During a Meeting on Desktop:
- Join or start a Google Meet meeting.
- Click the three vertical dots (More Options) at the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Select "Apply visual effects" or "Change background."
- In the sidebar that appears, choose from the following options:
- Blur your background slightly or heavily.
- Select a pre-uploaded static or immersive background.
- Upload a custom image from your computer.
- Preview your chosen background.
- Click "Done" to apply the background effect
Before Joining a Meeting:
- On the preview screen before entering the meeting, click the "Change Background" icon (a circular icon with three stars) at the bottom right of your self-view.
- Choose or upload a background as above.
- The selected background will be visible to other participants when you join
On Android Devices:
- Open the Google Meet app and join a meeting.
- Tap "Effects" at the bottom of your self-view before or during the meeting.
- Under the "Backgrounds" tab, select blur options, pre-uploaded backgrounds, or upload your own.
- Tap "Done" to apply
Additional Tips:
- Background effects may increase battery usage and processor load.
- Your background in self-view may appear mirrored, but others see it correctly.
- Availability of backgrounds and effects may depend on your device, account type, and admin settings
