To catch Gimmighoul depends on which game you are playing:
In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
- Gimmighoul can be found mostly around ruins and watchtowers scattered across the map. These watchtowers appear as small brown circles on your map or can be spotted by looking for the highest points around you.
- Climbing to the top of these watchtowers reveals a chest. Attempting to open the chest will trigger a battle with Chest Form Gimmighoul, which you can then catch like any other Pokémon.
- Some ruins also hide Gimmighoul, but watchtowers are the most consistent spots.
- Gimmighoul is genderless and cannot breed
In Pokémon Go
- To encounter Roaming Form Gimmighoul, you first need to connect your Pokémon Go account with Pokémon Scarlet or Violet on your Nintendo Switch.
- After linking, send a Postcard from Pokémon Go to Scarlet/Violet to unlock the Coin Bag in Pokémon Go.
- Using the Coin Bag lure causes Roaming Form Gimmighoul to appear in the wild near you for 30 minutes. The Coin Bag can be used once per day and recharged by sending another Postcard.
- It is recommended to use the Coin Bag while walking to increase encounters.
- Additionally, sending multiple Postcards unlocks Golden Lure Modules that turn normal PokéStops into Golden PokéStops. Spinning these gives Gimmighoul Coins and a rare chance to encounter Roaming Form Gimmighoul.
- Catching Gimmighoul and spinning Golden PokéStops grant Gimmighoul Coins, which are needed to evolve Roaming Form Gimmighoul into Gholdengo
Tips for Catching
- In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, bringing a weaker Pokémon to reduce Gimmighoul’s HP or using status effects like sleep or paralysis can increase catch rate
- In Pokémon Go, if Gimmighoul does not spawn after using the Coin Bag, refreshing game data via Advanced Settings may help
In summary, in Scarlet & Violet, find and open chests at watchtowers or ruins to battle and catch Chest Form Gimmighoul. In Pokémon Go, link your accounts, send Postcards to unlock and use the Coin Bag lure to spawn and catch Roaming Form Gimmighoul.
