Eternatus can be caught in two main games with different approaches:
- In Pokémon Sword and Shield:
- You encounter Eternatus as part of the story after defeating all 8 gym leaders and reaching the Champion Cup finals.
- A sequence of events leads you to Hammerlocke's Energy Plant where you face Eternatus.
- Initially, you battle Eternatus but cannot catch it at this stage; you must first defeat it.
- After defeating it in battle and working with Zamazenta and Zacian, you have a second battle.
- Once Eternatus' HP is fully depleted in this final battle, you can catch it with any Poké Ball automatically.
- Catching Eternatus here is guaranteed and part of completing the game.
- In Pokémon GO:
- You can get Eternatus by reaching rank 60 in the free Go Pass: Max Finale event or by participating in Tier 6 Max Battles.
- Defeating Eternamax Eternatus in Max Battles is required to get a chance to catch it.
- Eternatus in Pokémon GO is not shiny, and catching it is linked to event participation.
- You need to join lobbies of players to beat Eternatus in these high-level raids and get candies and candies XL to power it up.
- Catching Eternatus is tied to event progression, and you must complete these battles to encounter and catch it.
Summary:
- In Pokémon Sword and Shield, catch Eternatus as part of the main story after specific battles.
- In Pokémon GO, reach Rank 60 in the Go Pass or participate in Tier 6 Max Battles to fight and catch Eternatus.
If you are playing either game, it is important to follow the specific progression and battle Eternatus before capture is allowed.
