To cancel an Amazon order, follow these steps depending on whether you use the website or the mobile app:
Cancel an Amazon Order on the Website
- Log in to your Amazon account.
- Click on Returns & Orders at the top-right corner.
- Find the order you want to cancel.
- Click the option next to the item that says Cancel order or Cancel items.
- Select the item(s) you want to cancel and choose a reason for cancellation if prompted.
- Confirm by clicking Cancel selected items.
- You will receive an email confirming your cancellation request and another email once the cancellation is approved or denied
Cancel an Amazon Order Using the Mobile App
- Open the Amazon Shopping app on your iOS or Android device.
- Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) or Profile icon.
- Select Your Orders.
- Find and select the order you want to cancel.
- Tap Cancel items or Cancel order.
- Choose the reason for cancellation and confirm by tapping Cancel checked items.
- You will receive email confirmation of your cancellation request and its status
Important Notes
- You can only cancel an order directly within about 30 minutes after placing it before it enters the shipping process. After this window, you must submit a cancellation request for the seller to review, and cancellation is not guaranteed
- If the order has already shipped or the seller does not allow cancellations, you cannot cancel it online. In this case, you can usually return the item after delivery
- Orders mistakenly cancelled cannot be reinstated, so confirm carefully before cancelling
