To add widgets to your Mac desktop, follow these steps:

  1. Enable widgets on the desktop:
    • Go to Apple menu > System Settings > Desktop & Dock.
    • Scroll to the Widgets section and toggle on Show Widgets on Desktop to allow widgets to appear on your desktop
  1. Open the widget editor:
    • Right-click (or Control-click) on your desktop wallpaper and select Edit Widgets.
    • Alternatively, click the date and time in the menu bar to open Notification Center, then scroll to the bottom and click Edit Widgets
  1. Add widgets:
    • In the widget gallery that appears, browse or search for the widget you want.
    • Click the widget or the green plus button to add it automatically to the desktop, or drag the widget manually to your preferred location on the desktop
 * You can add widgets from macOS apps as well as compatible iPhone apps if your iPhone is nearby and signed in to the same Apple ID
  1. Arrange and finalize:
    • Drag widgets to reposition them anywhere on the desktop.
    • Widgets snap to an invisible grid for neat alignment, but you can disable snapping by adjusting desktop view options if desired
 * When finished, click **Done** to exit the widget editor
  1. Remove widgets if needed:
    • To remove a widget, enter Edit Widgets mode again, then click the widget’s Remove button or the minus icon

This feature is available starting with macOS Sonoma and later versions, allowing you to customize your desktop with useful, interactive widgets for weather, calendar, reminders, system info, and more
