how often is a super moon

A supermoon typically occurs about three to four times a year. This happens when a full moon coincides very closely with the Moon's closest approach to Earth in its elliptical orbit, known as perigee. Because the Moon's orbit orientation shifts, not every full moon is a supermoon, so they do not occur every month but usually several times per year, often consecutively over a few months. Some years may have as few as two or as many as five supermoons, with around three to four being typical annually.
