In 2016, during President Barack Obama's administration, the United States dropped more than 26,000 bombs across seven countries. This includes countries like Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, and others. Most of these bombs (around 24,287) were dropped in Iraq and Syria as part of the coalition airstrikes against the Islamic State (IS). This number was derived from analyzing US Air Force data and coalition airstrike counts for that year. To clarify, the figure for 2016 alone was about 26,172 bombs dropped. Throughout Obama's presidency, the use of drone strikes and air strikes significantly increased compared to his predecessor, with over 563 drone strikes targeting countries such as Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen during his two terms. The data shows intense usage of air power to conduct targeted killings and combat operations in multiple countries during his terms.
