The AP Environmental Science (APES) exam is 2 hours and 40 minutes long. It consists of two main sections:
- Section I: Multiple Choice - 80 questions to be completed in 1 hour and 30 minutes. This section accounts for 60% of the exam score and includes individual questions as well as sets based on data, models, or text sources.
- Section II: Free Response - 3 questions to be completed in 1 hour and 10 minutes. This section accounts for 40% of the exam score and includes tasks such as designing an investigation and analyzing environmental problems with or without calculations
