The AP English Literature and Composition exam is 3 hours long in total. It is divided into two sections:
- Multiple-choice section: 60 minutes to answer 55 questions
- Free-response section: 120 minutes (2 hours) to complete 3 essay questions
There is also typically a 10-minute break between the two sections. The exam tests literary analysis skills through both multiple-choice questions and essay writing.
