The AP Environmental Science exam is 2 hours and 40 minutes long in total. It is divided into two sections:
- Section I: Multiple Choice - 80 questions with a time limit of 90 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes). This section accounts for 60% of the overall score.
- Section II: Free Response - 3 questions with a time limit of 70 minutes (1 hour 10 minutes). This section accounts for 40% of the overall score.
Students are allowed to use calculators throughout the exam, which is fully digital. The free-response questions involve designing investigations, analyzing environmental problems, proposing solutions, and performing calculations when required
