The AP Chemistry exam is 3 hours and 15 minutes long in total. It is divided into two main sections:
- Section I: Multiple Choice - 60 questions to be completed in 90 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes), accounting for 50% of the exam score.
- Section II: Free Response - 7 questions (3 long-answer and 4 short-answer) to be completed in 105 minutes (1 hour 45 minutes), also accounting for 50% of the exam score
