The AP Biology exam is 3 hours long in total, divided into two main sections:
- Multiple-Choice Section: 60 questions to be completed in 90 minutes. This section accounts for 50% of the exam score and tests your knowledge of biological concepts, data analysis, and scientific reasoning.
- Free-Response Section: 6 questions (2 long and 4 short) to be completed in 90 minutes. This section also accounts for 50% of the exam score and assesses your ability to interpret data, analyze experiments, and explain biological phenomena.
There is typically a 10-minute break between the two sections, making the entire testing experience about 3 hours and 15 minutes including the break
