Navy boot camp currently lasts 9 weeks. This change from 10 weeks to 9 weeks takes effect starting January 2025 and is intended to streamline the curriculum by removing redundancies without cutting essential training topics
. The training covers core competencies such as firefighting, seamanship, watchstanding, physical fitness, professional development, and the Warrior Toughness program, all integrated efficiently throughout the 9-week schedule
. The first two weeks focus on indoctrination and adjusting recruits from civilian to Sailor life, followed by militarization and evaluation phases, culminating in the Battle Stations 21 final challenge and leadership training in the last weeks
. Previously, the Navy extended boot camp from 8 to 10 weeks in 2022 to add life skills and professional development, but the new 9-week format maintains these elements in a more efficient manner
